Following the success of our impromptu
match last season, we had many requests for this to be repeated, so on a
beautiful sunny morning on 10th May, we all gathered on our
allocated pitch 9. We had so many dads,
friends, siblings and 2 mums (well done Julie and Lesley for representing the
girls) that we needed to play the adult team in 2 sections, but all the
Wanderers players stayed on the pitch for the whole match.
The final score was a 4-3 win to the
Wanderers, with goals by Sam (2) and Oliver (2) for the Wanderers and Wendell,
Nick and Dan L for the Parents and it was great fun to
be involved.
This was a very enjoyable day and many
of us stayed pitch side for nearly 5 hours with our picnics, sun cream, chairs
and blankets. Several ‘unofficial’
matches seemed to start up during the afternoon with the Parents gradually
creeping back onto the pitch. A special thank you to Sally for bringing along her Megaphone and
being our official Cheer-leader for this great day.
